The chairmanship hopeful, Abeokuta South Local government, Hon. Farouq Akintunde has advised the residents of Ogun state to continue to make use of face masks as to avoid contacting and spreading the deadly virus.
He also advised them to always obey the state government's directives regarding to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The vice president of a foremost club, Egba Inner Circle disclosed this while presenting face masks to the Paramount ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo at his palace, Ake, Abeokuta.
Farouq noted that the reason for the donation of the facemasks was to prevent the people from contacting the deadly disease.
Farouq who was speaking on behalf of the President of the Club, Alhaji Salawu, said that the Alake who is the club’s Grand Patron, had been coordinating many Egba Groups and individuals as well as Business Organizations.
He added that the club is to help stem the spread of the Coronavirus by donating relief materials which would eventually relieve people of the lockdown in the State.
In his words, ''We have decided to support the Egba Monarch by donating face masks for further distribution to residents in Egbaland. I
''It was part of the social responsibility of the Club to aid the people especially during challenging times like this'' He added.
In his response, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, while receiving the Club, stated that it was the patriotic and social responsibility of the Egbas as well as their friends and residents to always be supportive and mindful of their immediate environments.
Oba Gbadebo said he was not surprised that the Egba Inner Circle had once again lived up to its billings as a foremost Egba Club by this commendable action, urging the members to uphold their sacrifice and services to humanity.
Oba Gbadebo appreciated the Group for the donations, assuring them that the face masks would be distributed to the people immediately for prevention of contacting and spreading of corona virus.
