My Officer Didn't Shoot Anyone, It Is A Rumour, Says Ogun Peace Corps Commandant

 has debunked the rumour that one of their officers, Akinwunmi Ibrahim  allegedly shot someone through accidental discharge.


He also denied the allegations that they use  firearms, ammunitions and  also have office in Akomoje or lafenwa area of the state.


According to him, Our attention has been drawn to a news circulating on social media (WhatsApp) concerning one Akinwunmi Ismail who was said to be of Peace Corps Akomoje Division, who allegedly shot someone through accidental discharge.


''We wish to state clearly that Peace Corps of Nigeria, Ogun State Command under my leadership  is not aware of such incident and does not have an office in Akomoje or Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.


''Although, we are yet to confirm the authenticity of the news through a credible news medium and we don't know the Police Station where the matter was reported, but as a responsible and disciplined organization with positive name and image in the society, we have decided to set the record straight and further educate people about activities of Peace of Nigeria.



''I also want to add that Peace Corps of Nigeria, led by Ambassador Dickson A.O. Akoh does not use firearms or ammunition. In fact, we are a non-governmental Organization and not a security agency approved to carry firearms.

''We only have Commanders in all the 20 local government areas in Ogun State and our officers are working under the central control of the State Commandant'' He concluded

The commandant added that none of their twenty local government Commanders reported a case involving firearms or ammunition at their state Command and our orientation and programmes have nothing to do with such.

He  urged all existing security agencies and the media to help us verify the identity of the impostor claiming to be an officer of Peace Corps.

''For emphasis, Peace Corps of Nigeria is a voluntary Uniformed youth Non-Governmental Organization with the objective of youth reorientation, neighborhood watch, volunteerism, Peace building, intelligence gathering and strong commitment to national creativity.

''Presently, our officers are at the forefront of Sensitization of residents of Ogun State on the need to maintain good personal hygiene, keep safe social distance, avoid handshake, touching of face, nose, mouth without proper washing of hands with soap and water due to the Coronavirus Pandemic in the Country.

''We are committed to promoting peace in our environment and forbids things that may lead to violent conflict or breakdown of law and order in our environment''

Ogun Commissioner Gets Honorary Award For Supporting The Vulnerable

The Ogun State ICON of Humanity has honored the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Fasuwa Johnson has commiserated with the family of Anthony Adejonpe who died yesterday night In his condolence message, the assembly man  said that  the death of  the Ijebu born  came as a shock to him. The assembly man described the deceased as  a worthy and dependable son of Imomo, ilugun Alaro in his life time.
