The media group of Honorable Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi Representing Yewa south state constituency today visited Various communities in ilaro, ifekowajo and Owode of the yewa south local government to distribute 10,000 hand sanitizers   . In ilaro, the popular market, Sayedero market was visited by the media aid and hand sanitizers were distributed to the iyaloja of the market to give each and everyone in the market, this was in order to enlighten the market women/men on preventing the spread of the virus around the communities. COVID-19 : AMORAN commences free distribution of hand sanitizers in Ogun

Determined to curb the coronavirus pandemic, the Articulated Motorcycle and Riders Association of Nigeria, (AMORAN), Ogun State chapter has commenced the distribution of 5,000 bottles of sanitizers to commercial motorcycle riders in the State. The gesture, according to the Union's Publicity Secretary, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, is aimed at keeping the scourge at bay in the State. The distribution exercise was held at the three senatorial districts simultaneously over the weekend. Speaking on the exercise, Otunba Sokoya said the initiative was carried out to sensitize the members on the precautionary measures against the deadly virus. The  chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government , Hon. Ayodeji Shomide and the transition team on Sunday advised the people of the local government to obey the stay home policy of the federal government. Nigeria bans all international flights

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the closure of all the country’s airports to international flights till April 23, 2020. The Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA),  Capt. Musa Nuhu disclosed this in a letter to all foreign airlines and operators on Saturday. He said domestic flights will continue normal operations at all airports. More beds, ventilators and thousands of extra healthcare staff will be made urgently available from next week to aid the  NHS  fight against  coronavirus , thanks to a major deal agreed between NHS England and the nation's independent hospitals. Nearly 20,000 fully qualified staff will be joining the NHS response to the pandemic, helping manage the expected surge in cases. The extra resources now secured by the health service will not only be available to treat coronavirus patients, but will also help the NHS deliver other urgent operations and cancer treatments. The deal - the first of its kind ever - includes the provision of 8,000 hospital beds across England, nearly 1200 more ventilators, more than 10,000 nurses, over 700 doctors and over 8,000 other clinical staff. American singer and Country music legend Kenny Rogers has is dead at the age of 81. His family announced his passing away in a statement issued late on Friday. According to the statement, Kenny died from natural causes at home. “The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25PM at the age of 81. “Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family,” the statement read. WASSCE postponed indefinitely

Housewife stabs peacemaker for trying to separate a fight

A housewife, Salimat Hamza, on Friday appeared in a Kaduna Upper Sharia Court, for allegedly stabbing a ‘peacemaker’, who was trying to separate a fight. The 22-year old defendant, who resides along Taiwo Road Kaduna, is charged with causing grievous hurt. The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Abubakar Shehu, told court that the ‘peacemaker’ who was also the defendant’s neighbour, Halima Musa, reported the matter at Sabon Gari Police Station on March 15. He alleged that the defendant, on March 15. stabbed the complainant with a knife when she tried to separate a fight between  Hamza and another neighbour. Shehu said that the complainant suffered deep cuts on her head and hand. He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 219 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Judge, Mustapha Umar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one reasonable surety in like sum. Governor Abiodun rolls out measures to tackle the economic effects of COVID-19 As a result of the recent global economic challenges resulting from COVID-19 pandemic and the crash in the prices of crude oil, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced a number of measures to mitigate the imminent reduction in monthly FAAC allocations from the federation account. Governor Abiodun made this known while receiving the Interim Report of the State’s Economic Team led by the Honourable Commissioner of Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Dapo Okubadejo. Some of the measures include budget review in line with current realities, restructuring and refinancing of existing loan obligations and processing of new credit facilities to improve the State’s cashflow and take advantage of the more favourable interest rate regime in the country.
