The transition committee chairman for Abeokuta south local government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide has condemned open defecation in Abeokuta south area of Ogun State.
He urged the people to stop the act defecating opening on the road, saying that it will endanger their health.
The transition chairman disclosed this while visiting the people of Kemta Odutolu community at Itoku, Abeokuta.
According to him, open defecation will cause numerous diseases and dumping of refuse in drainages which could lead to flood that can endanger lives and properties.
''I have seen it all that the people of this environs are living in a dangerous environment that could endanger their health lives due to their dirty way of living such as open defecation that can cause numerous diseases and dumping of refuse in drainages which could lead to flood that can endanger lives and properties. He also promised to provide adequate needs for the people of the environment in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the director of environment, Mr Akintola advised people to maintain a good hygienic standard of living.
Hon. Shomide then visited kemta ago otun to inspect the standard of usage of the large drainage constructed by the government and he promise to ensure proper maintenance of it.
