Security forces kills senior Al-Qaeda member

Posted by : Adebisi Adeyemi Tunisian security forces have killed a senior member of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb who was wanted by Algeria for two and a half decades, officials said. "A terrorist wanted by Algeria since 1993 was killed in an operation carried out by the Special Unit of the National Guard ," Tunisian interior ministry spokesman Khlifa Chibani said Saturday. A security source said the person killed was Bilel Kobi, an Algerian who was close to the network's leader Abdelmalek Droukdel. Kobi had been charged with overseeing links between the network, known by its French initials AQMI, and its Tunisian branch, the official said on condition of anonymity. Another Algerian, Bechir Bin Neji , thought to have been the commander of an AQMI cell in the Sammama region of Tunisia, was also found dead with an assault rifle by his side, Chibani said. The world’s most expensive footballer was operated on in Belo Horizonte by the Brazil national team doctor to repair the fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle he suffered in last weekend’s French Ligue 1 match against Olympique de Marseille.

Posted by: Adebisi Adeyemi KATSINA – Unknown armed bandits have kidnapped wife of a Katsina lawmaker and member representing Ingawa Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Tunas and the sum of N100 million was allegedly demanded by her abductors as ransom to secure her release. The victim identified as Mabaruka, is Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Tunas’s junior wife and was kidnapped at their Tunas’ residence in Ingawa local government area of the state. The lawmaker was said to have confirmed the development while narrating the incident on Saturday evening when he received the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Aviation,, Senator Hadi Sirika on visit to sympathize with the lawmaker.
